The game
What is Timefather?
A dark fantasy MMORPG for PC, set in the world of Ethea. Eight classes, four elements, five city-states, and a Referendum system that lets communities rewrite city-state law. Story progression is the power axis: finishing Parts of the narrative grants class points, not grinding.
When does it release?
No date. The roadmap is structured as four rings — MVP, Vertical Slice, Alpha, Full Vision — and we publish the ring, not the date. The first public checkpoint is the Prologue (Mage + Fire vertical slice). Newsletter subscribers receive keys first-received, first-served.
What platforms is it on?
PC, distributed via Steam. No console or mobile plans at this stage. The tech stack is Unreal Engine 5.7 with Iris networking.
Classes and spells
How many classes are there?
Eight — Warrior, Paladin, Druid, Tracker, Ranger, Priest, Mage, Warlock. Each has a fixed attribute distribution across Strength, Intelligence, and Dexterity. You do not pick one and serve it: you invest Class Points (six at start, fifteen by end-game) across one or more, and every documented pairing is a third named thing with its own passive.
How do spells work?
Every spell can be augmented with one, two, or three of the four elements (Fire, Water, Wind, Earth). Adding elements does not add raw damage — it redistributes the spell's Effect Potency Budget between damage and effects. A Fire+Water spell produces steam effects; a Fire+Water+Wind spell produces a maelstrom debuff. Pure element picks hit harder; multi-element picks do more things.
Is there a nature element?
Not in the magic system. The Conclave's classical taxonomy has four seats — Fire, Water, Wind, Earth. The city of Xylos claims a fifth (Nature) in its public life; the spell system does not recognise it. That gap is intentional and drives some of Ethea's politics.
Community and business
How do I get a beta key?
Subscribe to the newsletter — keys go out first-received, first-served as each testing ring opens. The devlog and community pages announce when a ring is about to ship.
Are you hiring?
Not formally. We are a small studio running the project out of Laragod. If you are a specialist in a particular area (UE5 networking, combat feel, community management) and want to talk, use the Contact page — every message goes to a human.
Can I cover the game on stream or video?
Yes, once there is anything to cover. The Press kit has a logo bundle and (when it exists) screenshot pack. For early-access coverage or features, email press@timefather.game and we will prioritise the reply.
